Vietnam’s pangasius exports showed many positive signals
MEKSEA.COM – In June 2023, Vietnam’s pangasius exports reached 143 million USD, showing positive growth compared to the first months of 2023.
In June 2023, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to China and Hongkong reached 48 million USD, reducing by 15%, to the US reached 23 million USD, reducing by 51% and to CPTPP reached 21 million USD, reducing by 39% compared to last year.
If in April and May, Vietnam pangasius exports to China and Hongkong had reduced by 66% and 30% respectively, in June, it was 15%. For the most populous country in the world, and always the largest pangasius importer of Vietnam, this number shows a positive signal for Vietnam’s pangasius.
The value of Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the US in June 2023 reached 23 million USD, down 51% over the same period last year. Although it still recorded negative double-digit growth in June 2023, compared to the previous 2 months, the gap has also narrowed. Specifically, in May 2023 pangasius exports to the US decreased by 53% and in April 2023 decreased by 66% compared to the same period in 2022. In the first five months of 2023, the average price of Vietnamese pangasius exports to the US market reached 3. .3 USD/kg, down 30% over the same period in 2022.
The US Department of Commerce said that the Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) index in May 2023 increased by 3.8% compared to the same period last year, significantly down from the 4.3% recorded in the previous month.
