MEKSEA.COM –  After the provinces eased social distancing restrictions, businesses in the Mekong Delta quickly recover production, especially boosting shrimp production and processing to promptly deliver goods to partners and foreign markets to meet purchase demand for Christmas and New Year holidays.

Currently, most provinces are gradually returning to the “green zone” (covid-19-free area), factories reopening, welcoming workers back to work after the temporary shut down due to covid-19. Promising to bring operational productivity back from 70% compared to before the epidemic.

To ensure production safety, workers returning to the factory are quickly tested for covid 3 times, 3 days apart each time. Moreover, the enterprise will conduct periodic testing for workers and implement safe epidemic prevention measures to maintain the production chain.

Currently, the price of vannamei shrimp has increased compared to the time before the Covid-19 outbreak. September 28, vannamei shrimp size 20 pcs/kg in the Mekong Delta was purchased by businesses for VND 230,000/kg, VND 150,000 for size 30pcs/kg, and VND 83,000 for size 100pcs/kg. Besides that, the price of other large-sized vannamei shrimp also increased sharply after the provinces in Mekong Delta eased social distancing restrictions.

Thanks to easing social distancing restrictions, on September 28, seafood processing factories in Soc Trang and Bac Lieu provinces reoperate with nearly 100% of employees returning to work. Moreover, easing social distancing restrictions in localities creates favorable conditions for businesses to transport goods, making it easy to buy shrimp for farmers. Some factories consume nearly 40 tons of shrimp per day.

Besides, businesses are still worried about the risk of F0 spreading in the community and in neighboring provinces when HCMC eases the distance and a lot of people from the city go back hometown, while the local isolation area is limited.

Soon after, the leader of Soc Trang province confirmed that the province would try to strictly control the flow of people from the city to the locality. Moreover, provincial leaders asked businesses to take the initiative in taking measures to prevent and control the epidemic, contributing to maintaining the spearhead economy of the province.

In addition, the provinces have accelerated the vaccination schedule for workers. In An Nghiep industrial park, Soc Trang province has more than 20,000 workers, now about 14,000-15,000 workers have returned to work. Of these, about 60% received a dose of covid-19 vaccine, 10% completed the second dose.

Besides, the leader of Soc Trang province said that after closing and implementing “3 things at the factory” because of covid, now businesses have gradually reoperated with many positive signals and received many orders for goods from partners. This is considered an opportunity for factories and businesses to restore and boost export production in the fourth quarter of 2021, serving the peak shopping season of Christmas and New Year 2022
