Vietnam’s tuna exports to the EU showed a positive sign in 3rd quarter of 2022
MEKSEA.COM – In the 3rd quarter of 2022, Vietnam’s tuna export to the EU reached more than 46 million USD, equivalent to an increase of 47% over the same period in 2021. This is a positive sign of Vietnam’s tuna exports after a decline period in the second quarter, of 2022.
Accumulated in the first 9 months of the year, tuna export turnover to this market group reached more than 123 million USD, up 16% over the same period.
One of the reasons for this growth is the peak purchase season for the year-end holiday is coming. However, tuna supplies in many countries tend to decrease and freight rates tend to increase. Taking advantage of tariffs under the EVFTA agreement, Vietnam has become a potential choice for countries paying attention to tuna products.
According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, in the EU market, in the first three quarters of this year, Germany and Belgium increased tuna imports from Vietnam, of which Belgium increased by 111% over the same period. In addition, Vietnam’s tuna exports to other EU markets also increased in 3rd of the year, such as Romania up 102%, France up 155%, and Denmark up 305%.
It is forecasted that in the context of inflation in Europe still increasing, tuna consumption in this market will continue to increase, especially for canned tuna products. Therefore, Vietnam’s tuna exports to the EU in the last months of the year will more and more increase compared to the same period in 2021 due to competitive prices and advantages in terms of tariffs under the EVFTA agreement.
