Vietnam’s seafood exports increased by 62% in February
MEKSEA.COM – According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam’s seafood exports in February 2022 continued to spike by 62% reaching 635 million USD. As a result, accumulated in the first 2 months of the year reached 1.5 billion USD, up 51% year on year.
Specialty, pangasius exports increased most, reaching 171 million USD, equivalent to 127%. Accumulated in the first 2 months of the year, Vietnam’s pangasius earned 384 million USD, up 93%.
Shrimp exports in February also increased by 50% year on year, reached 237 million USD, accumulated over 550 million USD in the first 2 months, up 46%.
Exports of seafood products also increased sharply by 30-90% over the same period last year. In which, tuna exports in February reached 68 million USD. Moreover, Vietnam’s cephalopods (squid and octopus) export in February reached 34 million USD, up 47% over the same period last year.
Notably, the US continued to increase import seafood from Vietnam by 146 million USD, up 85%. Accumulated in the first two months of the year, Vietnam’s seafood exports to this market reached 346 million USD, up 84% over the same period last year.
In addition, Vietnam’s seafood exports to markets such as Japan, China, Korea, Canada, Australia, EU and other traditional markets also increased sharply in February 2022.
