Vietnamese pangasius exports to the Brazilian up 44% compared to the same period in 2023
MEKSEA.COM – Vietnamese pangasius exports to the Brazilian market reached nearly $28 million, up 44% compared to the same period in 2023. The export value of pangasius to Brazil in January 2024 reached $14 million, an 83% increase compared to January 2023. In February 2024, this major South American country consumed nearly $6 million worth of pangasius, a 6% decrease, while in March 2024, consumption exceeded $8 million, a 48% increase compared to the same period.
Brazil primarily imports frozen pangasius segments (HS0304) from Vietnam. In the first quarter of 2024, exports of this item to Brazil reached nearly $28 million, up 44% compared to the same period in 2023, accounting for 99.6% of the total turnover. Notably, in the first three months of this year, Brazil imported over $110 thousand worth of frozen pangasius products from Vietnam, whereas in the same period last year, the country almost did not import this product.
In the first quarter of 2024, the volume of pangasius exports to Brazil reached nearly 7,000 tons, up 79% compared to the first quarter of 2023. January 2024 recorded the highest growth month in the first quarter of this year with over 3,000 tons, up 183% compared to the same period last year. In February and March 2024, the volume of pangasius exports to this country reached over 1,800 tons, up 23%, and 1,700 tons, up 46% compared to the same period in 2023.
