Bởi Joy Nguyen - April 20, 2026
MEKSEA.COM – According to VASEP, Vietnam pangasius exports to CPTPP maintained positive momentum in the first two months of 2026, reaching USD 59 million and accounting for 18% of the country’s total pangasius export value. Strong demand from Mexico, the UK, and Japan highlights the growing importance of CPTPP markets for Vietnam’s seafood industry.

Vietnam Pangasius Exports to CPTPP Continue Expanding Market Share in 2026
Quick view
1. Vietnam Pangasius Exports to CPTPP Show Strong Growth in Early 2026
According to VASEP, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to CPTPP member countries delivered encouraging results in the first two months of 2026. By February 28, export turnover reached USD 59 million, marking a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This figure represented 18% of Vietnam’s total pangasius exports, making CPTPP the second-largest market after China & Hong Kong.

Although exports in February alone stood at USD 22 million, down 7% year-on-year, the overall trend remains positive. Temporary market fluctuations are common in global seafood trade, but the long-term outlook for CPTPP continues to be promising thanks to tariff advantages and diversified demand.
For Vietnamese exporters, CPTPP remains a strategic trade bloc that offers easier market access and stronger competitiveness for pangasius products.
2. Mexico, the UK, and Japan Drive Demand for Vietnam Pangasius Exports to CPTPP
Among CPTPP markets, Mexico recorded the strongest growth. In the first two months of 2026, exports reached USD 16 million, surging 71% year-on-year. February alone increased by 25%, showing stable demand and significant room for further expansion. Competitive pricing and convenient frozen pangasius products continue to attract Mexican buyers.
The United Kingdom also maintained strong momentum, with export value reaching USD 10 million, up 35%. In February, shipments rose 21% to USD 4 million. Limited supplies of whitefish species such as cod and pollock, combined with higher prices, are encouraging UK buyers to shift toward farmed fish alternatives like pangasius. Ready-to-cook and value-added seafood products are especially gaining popularity.

Meanwhile, Japan emerged as another promising destination. Exports totaled USD 8 million, up 43%, while February alone increased 11%. The growing presence of pangasius in restaurant chains and Japanese foodservice channels signals broader acceptance among local consumers. This trend creates new opportunities for Vietnamese exporters to expand deeper into the Japanese market.
3. Opportunities Ahead for Vietnam Pangasius Exports to CPTPP
Despite weaker performance in Canada, where exports fell 8% to USD 6 million, the overall outlook for Vietnam pangasius exports to CPTPP remains highly positive. Rising seafood prices, reduced wild-caught whitefish supply, and changing consumer preferences are all supporting demand for pangasius across developed markets.

Vietnamese suppliers can benefit further by focusing on:
- Value-added pangasius products
- Convenient ready-to-cook formats
- Sustainable farming certifications
- Stable quality and traceability systems
- Flexible packaging for retail and foodservice buyers
As global seafood consumption continues evolving, CPTPP markets are expected to remain a major growth engine for Vietnam’s pangasius industry throughout 2026 and beyond.
