The bright picture of Vietnam’s tuna exports to France
MEKSEA.COM – According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, in 2021, Vietnam’s tuna exports to the EU market reached 114 million USD, up 6% compared to 2020. Vietnam’s tuna exports to countries in the EU market have many positive signs, notably the French market.
In 2021, the value of Vietnam’s tuna exports to France is the highest in the EU, increasing by nearly 103%, earning more than 3 million USD. Notably, in the fourth quarter, Vietnam’s tuna exports to the French market reached nearly 1.1 million USD, up 99% over the same period in 2020.
Vietnam’s tuna exports to France are very diverse, in which, the highest proportion is frozen tuna meat/loin (HS code 030497) accounting for 49% and canned tuna (HS 160411)) accounts for 47%.
According to ITC statistics, France’s tuna imports in 2021 tended to increase sharply. France became the second-largest tuna importer, after Spain, moreover, this was the largest importer of canned tuna in this market over the past year.
In addition, seafood experts forecast that Vietnam’s tuna exports to this market will continue to increase in 2022, especially when the preferential tariff quotas for Vietnam’s tuna products thanks to the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) have come into effect again.
