MEKSEA.COM – According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in April 2022, Vietnam’s seafood exports reached 1.13 billion USD, up 50.6% compared to the same period last year. Generally, in the first 4 months of 2022, Vietnam’s seafood exports reached 3.65 billion USD, up 46.8% over the same period in 2021.

In April and the first 4 months of 2022, Vietnam’s seafood exports to most major markets grew positively.

In particular, Vietnam’s two largest tuna export markets are the US and China. However, the “zero covid” policy has made delivery difficult, and testing for covid on frozen orders even more stringent. However, the lockdown in many provinces and cities in China has made the supply of seafood for domestic demand and processing facing difficult. Therefore, Vietnam’s seafood exports to the Chinese market in the first months of 2022 achieved 3-digit growth compared to the same period in 2021.
Besides that, Vietnam’s seafood exports to major markets in the EU also increased sharply. Accordingly, in the first four months of 2022, seafood exports to the Netherlands market increased by 64.8% over the same period in 2021, exports to Belgium increased by 76.8%, and exports to Germany increased by 39.3%.
