WHAT IS P&D SHRIMP?

If you’ve ever dealt with seafood, especially shrimp, you might have come across the term P&D shrimp. But what does it mean?

P&D stands for Peeled and Deveined. 

This refers to shrimp that have had their shells removed (peeled) and the digestive tract (the dark vein along the back) taken out (deveined).

P&D (Peeled and Deveined) shrimp come in two types 

Uncooked (raw) and cooked.

  • Uncooked P&D shrimp are peeled and deveined but still raw. They are ideal for recipes where you want to control the cooking process like grilling, stir-frying, or steaming.
  • Cooked P&D shrimp are already peeled, deveined, and pre-cooked. They are ready to eat or can be quickly added to salads, pasta, or cold dishes.
