Vietnam’s surimi exports increased by nearly 30%
MEKSEA.COM – In 2021, Vietnam’s surimi exports increased nearly by 28% over the same period last year, reaching 381 million USD. This one of the seafood products with a high growth rate.
Currently, Vietnam’s surimi products are exported to about 40 markets around the world. The large proportion is mainly in 3 markets: Korea, Thailand and China account for 23%, 21% and 13% respectively.
The next top 3 markets include Japan, Russia and Malaysia, accounting for 9.5%, 7.5% and 7% of Vietnam’s total surimi exports, respectively.
The covid-19 epidemic is considered a driving factor in increasing demand for surimi in most markets. Typically, Thailand increased by 39%, Japan increased by 26%, Russia increased by 68% and Malayasia increased by 52% in 2021.

In addition, surimi exports to some markets with breakthrough growth, such as to Belarus increased more than 12 times, to the US increased 172%, to Lithuania increased 111% and so on.

Vietnam’s surimi products are produced mainly from marine fish, threadfin breams, lizard-fish and so on.
