MEKSEA.COM – Seafood export revenue in 2023 was estimated to reach 9.2 billion USD, equivalent to 92% of the annual target, according to the Department of Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Shrimp is the largest contributor to total export turnover, with about 3.45 billion USD, followed by pangasius with 1.9 billion, tuna with 900 million, and mollusks with 800 million.

Total aquaculture output this year is expected at 9.269 billion tons, up 2 % YOY and exceeding the annual target of 9.05 billion tons.

Catching and aquaculture outputs hit 3.86 million tons and 5.4 million tons, respectively.

Vietnam’s seafood industry has set a target of earning export revenue of 9.5 billion USD in 2024

Besides, the trade ministry forecasts that seafood exports will only recover slightly in the first half of 2024 thanks to some positive signals that have been seen towards the end of this year that indicate seafood exports to some markets like the U.S., EU, and South Korea are likely to recover in the first months of 2024.
