MEKSEA.COM – According to Customs statistics, by mid-October 2022, Vietnam’s pangasius exports reached 2.06 billion USD, up 60% over the same period in 2022. It is estimated that by the end of October 2022, pangasius exports will earn about 2.2 billion USD, up 80% over the same period in 2021. In which, the Chinese market alone accounted for 30% with about 654 million USD, up 110%.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), from 2020 to now, China has surpassed the US market and maintained its position as the No. 1 pangasius import market in Vietnam. Besides that, China has always maintained the highest growth rate, with sales increasing more than 2 times over the same period last year. It is estimated that in October 2022, pangasius exports to this market will reach about 64.2 million USD, up 105% over the same period in 2021. In which, export of frozen slice cut pangasius fillet accounted for 75% with over 48 million USD. Whole fresh/frozen pangasius accounted for over 24%, reaching nearly 16 million USD.

By the end of October 2022, the export of frozen pangasius fillets to China reached over 489 million USD, an increase of 115% of fresh/frozen pangasius exports to China by the end of October to about 215 000 MT.

China increased imports from other countries to make up for the shortfall in output for domestic consumption and the export processing sector due to the zero covid policy affecting its fishing and aquaculture activities.
