Vietnam aims to become top five seafood exporters by 2030.
MEKSEA.COM – Recently, the Government of Vietnam has just approved the development strategy for the seafood industry in the 2021-2030 period, striving to turn Vietnam into one of the world’s seafood processing hubs and among the top five seafood exporters by 2030.
For the goal, the growth rate of processed seafood output will reach over 6%/year. While the export turnover of processed products will account for over 40% of total output, of which shrimp will account for 60%, followed by pangasius (10%), tuna (70%), squid and octopus (30%). %).
By 2030, the domestic market for processed seafood would reach VND40-45 trillion ($1.75-1.97 billion), which would contribute to seafood exports of US$14-16 billion per year.

In addition, establishing modern seafood processing corporations and enterprises, with economic potential and management level on a world-class level.
Under the plan, a key priority for the industry would be to promote sustainable production that is in line with international practices and requirements on produce traceability to prevent potential trade frauds.
Vietnam would continue to promote investment in the industry to improve technological production and capabilities towards enhancing food safety, quality and diversification, focusing on those with high added-value such as shrimps, catfish, or tuna.
