MEKSEA.COM – According to data from Vietnam Customs, in August 2024, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to various markets reached 191 million USD, up 12% compared to August 2023. The cumulative export value of pangasius in the first eight months of this year reached nearly 1.3 billion USD, an increase of 9% compared to the same period last year.

In terms of consumption markets, pangasius exports to several markets continued to record double-digit growth, such as the U.S., CPTPP, Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, and others. China & Hong Kong remained the largest consumers of Vietnamese pangasius in August 2024, with a value exceeding 57 million USD, up 9% compared to the same period in 2023. As of the end of August 2024, the total export value to this market reached 370 million USD, down slightly by 2% compared to the same period last year.

Pangasius exports to the U.S. in August 2024 amounted to over 35 million USD, up 40% compared to August 2023. August 2024 also marked the second-highest export value to this market within the year (after April 2024, with over 37 million USD). The export value of pangasius to the U.S. in the first 8 months of this year reached 226 million USD, an increase of 23% compared to the same period last year.

Brazil is the third-largest single market for Vietnamese pangasius, with nearly 12 million USD in August 2024, down 10% compared to the same period. As of the end of August 2024, pangasius exports to the largest country in South America reached 77 million USD, up 28% compared to the same period.

Pangasius exports in August 2024 showed more positive signals in many markets thanks to the recovery in demand and export prices. With the export growth momentum in the first 8 months of this year and optimistic forecasts for continued growth in the remaining 4 months, the industry’s goal of 2 billion USD in pangasius exports could be achieved or even exceed expectations.
