What is the origin of Feast of the Seven Fish?
According to one cookbook author, Feast of the Seven Fishes is a Pre-Christian tradition. And that it symbolizes celebration, instead of abstinence. It’s because in ancient Egypt, seafood was festive fare. Since there were only a few times in a year that the Nile River gets flooded and people would get fresh fish.
