Vietnam’s seafood exports in January 2022 increased by nearly 43%
MEKSEA.COM – According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in January 2022, Vietnam’s seafood export turnover was over 872.5 million USD, up about 43% year on year.
In January 2022, Vietnam’s seafood exports showed positive signs. Specialty, in January, Vietnam’s seafood exports to RCEP countries reached 358 million USD, accounting for 41%. Exports to the CPTPP countries reached 234 million USD, up 12.3% compared to December 2021.
The 5 largest markets for Vietnamese seafood consumption are the US, Japan, EU, China, and South Korea. Vietnam’s seafood exports to the US market in January 2022 reached 199.79 million USD, accounting for 22.9% of Vietnam’s seafood export turnover, an increase of more than 80% year on year. Exports to the Japanese market reached 133.86 million USD, up 19.3% year on year.
Exports to the EU market accounted for 11.8% of the country’s total seafood export turnover, reaching over 102 million USD, an increase of 64% over the same period in 2021.
Exports to the Korean market reached 69.97 million USD, accounting for 8% of the country’s total seafood export turnover, up 15.4% over the same period in 2021.
For export enterprises, the group with foreign direct investment (FDI) accounted for 8.4% of Vietnam’s seafood export industry, equivalent to 73.2 million USD, up 16.6% over the same period last year.
