Vietnam’s seafood export situation in the first 4 months of 2022
MEKSEA.COM – In April 2022, Vietnam’s seafood exports reached nearly 377 million USD, up 24% over the same period in 2021. In the first 4 months of 2022, seafood exports reached over 1.3 billion USD, up 26% over the same period last year. Currently, seafood exports account for 35% of Vietnam’s total export value.
Vietnam’s seafood exports include other fish (except pangasius and tuna) 46.2%, tuna 28.4%, squid 16.4%, crabs, and other crustaceans 5.3%, bivalve mollusks 3.6%, and the rest are other mollusks (except squid and bivalve mollusks).
In the first 4 months of 2022, Vietnam’s seafood export value was steady, especially tuna exports recorded the strongest growth rate of 63%, reaching nearly 368 million USD.

Exports of crabs, other crustaceans and squid and octopus increased by 59% and 30% respectively. The export of bivalve mollusks increased by 28%, and the export of other marine fish (except pangasius and tuna) increased slightly by 7%.
Vietnam’s seafood exports in the second quarter of this year are expected to maintain positive growth but the growth rate will slow down due to a shortage of raw materials, the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, yellow card, IUU, freight rates, gasoline prices, production input costs increase… Vietnam’s seafood export turnover this year is forecast to reach about 3.2-3.3 billion USD.
