Vietnam Pangasius Export Update – October 2025
MEKSEA.COM – According VASEP, Vietnam’s pangasius exports showed positive momentum in October 2025, reaching USD 217 million, an 8% increase year-on-year. By the end of the first 10 months, export value surpassed USD 1.8 billion, up 9%, marking a steady recovery despite declines in several key markets.

China Leads the Rebound on Import Vietnam Pangasius
According Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) in Vietnam Pangasius Export Update that China and Hong Kong recorded USD 73 million in October, up 19%. After a brief slowdown in September, demand from China has clearly strengthened as the year-end peak season approaches.
The U.S. market posted USD 29 million, down 17%, while Brazil reached USD 15 million, up 1% after reversing the previous month’s decline.
The UK continued its downward trend, falling 33% to USD 4 million
CPTPP & EU: Mixed but positive signals
Exports to the CPTPP bloc reached USD 305 million in the first 10 months, rising 36% and contributing 17% of total pangasius export value.

Japan: USD 39 million (+14%)

Malaysia: +37%, showing strong import expansion
In the EU, exports totaled USD 149 million (+3%). Traditional markets such as the Netherlands and Germany continued to decline, while Spain grew strongly at +22%, reflecting varying consumption patterns within the bloc.

Value-Added Products gain traction
Frozen pangasius fillets (HS0304) reached nearly USD 1.5 billion (+11%). Other frozen/dried/whole pangasius products remained flat at USD 315 million. Processed pangasius products grew impressively by 19%, reaching USD 44 million, demonstrating growing demand for value-added seafood.

After Q3’s slowdown, October brought renewed optimism. However, several major markets may remain subdued in Q4/2025 due to high inventories and holiday buying cycles.
