MEKSEA.COM – Thanks to the consumption demand, in the first 4 months of the year, the total export value of Vietnam’s pangasius increased by nearly 97% compared to the same period last year, reaching over 963 million USD. This result is the motivation for Vietnam’s pangasius businesses on the upcoming export journey.

In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to markets were stable. China – Hongkong the largest market importing pangasius from Vietnam with a value of more than 300 million USD, up 156% over the same period last year. The 2nd position belongs to the US market, the total export value to this market also increased by 136%, equivalent to 241 million USD, and pangasius exports to the EU market increased by more than 84% with a value of 65 million USD.

In addition, in the first 4 months of 2022, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the markets of Mexico, Egypt, and Thailand also recorded many positive signals.

After a long time being affected by covid-19, so far exporting pangasius to these 3 markets has become busier than ever. In the first four months of the year, the total value of pangasius exports to Mexico reached over 40 million USD, an increase of 69%, exports to Thailand reached over 28 million USD, an increase of 80%, and exports to Egypt reached 14 million USD, 85% increase over the same period last year.

Thailand is a new partner of Vietnam’s pangasius in recent years. Thanks to the geographical distance, the growing demand for pangasius imports has attracted many of Vietnam’s pangasius businesses. Up to now, there are nearly 60 enterprises actively participating in exporting to Thailand. Besides that, Malaysia is also the target market of many Vietnamese pangasius exporters this year.

Recently, the US Food Safety and Inspection Agency has added 6 Vietnamese pangasius processing factories to the list that are allowed to process and export frozen pangasius to the US market. The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency of the Russian Federation also added two Vietnam enterprises to the list that allowed exports to the Eurasian Economic Union.

In addition, through the Global Seafood Expo in Spain at the end of April, many Vietnamese pangasius businesses introduced customers to some value-added products and take advantage of this chance to search and sign more potential seafood contracts. It is forecasted that in the second quarter of this year, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to major traditional markets will continue to be positive.
