MEKSEA.COM – By mid-October 2021, the total value of Vietnam’s pangasius exports to Latin American countries increased sharply.

Since the second quarter of this year, Brazil’s seafood import demand has increased sharply. It is worth mentioning that the total value of seafood imports of this country increased by 87% with the main product being pangasius in March 2021. By mid-October 2021, the total value of pangasius exports to the Brazilian market increased 1.5 times over the same period last year, reaching 47.44 million USD.

According to analysts, Brazil’s food may be increase sharply from now until the end of the year and even in entire 2022. Therefore, this is a good opportunity for Vietnamese pangasius exporters. Which assists in boosting exports to this potential market in the near future.

Currently, many Vietnamese seafood enterprises promote pangasius exports to the Brazilian market. Moreover, Vietnam is the leading supplier of white-fish products in Brazil. In the first 9 months of this year, 96% of Vietnamese frozen pangasius fillet products were exported to Brazil. The total value of Brazil’s frozen seafood imports increased by nearly 40% over the same period last year. In which, the import value of white-fish increased by 14.5%, especially pangasius fillets imports from Vietnam increased by 41.3%.

This is a positive signal for Vietnam’s pangasius industry in 2021. Besides pangasius, Vietnam’s salmon is one of the two main products attracted by Brazilian importers. Therefore, in order to seize opportunities in this period, Vietnamese pangasius exporters need to make effort to keep the Covid epidemic safe in their factories and stabilize processing capacity.
