Japan becomes the largest seafood importer of Vietnam
MEKSEA.COM – In the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam’s seafood exports to Japan reached 706 million USD, accounting for 26% total of Vietnam’s seafood export turnover.
In the first 9 months of 2023, Vietnam’s seafood exports reached 2.7 million USD, reduced by 14% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, tuna exports reached 617 million USD, down 24% over the same period in 2022, being the item with the highest export value among the seafood group. Behind are squid and octopus with 477 million USD, down 14%, crabs and other crustaceans reached 137 million USD, down 18%. Exports of other marine fish products had the lowest decrease of -8% over the same period last year, reaching 1.4 billion USD. Japan is currently Vietnam’s largest seafood export market in the first 9 months of 2023 with 706 million USD. Ranked second is the US market with 435 million USD, followed by Korea with 304 million USD. Total export turnover to these three markets reached 1.44 billion USD, accounting for 53% of Vietnam’s total seafood export value in the first 9 months of this year.
