The card will usually be opaque white, or silver. The Vannamei Prawns are white, with a powdery shell. The slightly curved and slender shape will usually have 6 abdominal segments. For segments, the abdomen is quite narrow and sometimes absent. The part near the head of the shrimp will usually be darker than the body and tail of the shrimp, the shrimp can also be exposed and visible.

It is easy to distinguish Black Tiger Shrimp by their external differences. Black Tiger Shrimp often have thick shells, the shells are often brown, red, gray, and green. Most notably, Black Tiger prawns have alternating yellow, green, and black colors on their backs. Black Tiger Prawns sometimes reach a maximum length of up to 36cm. The legs are often long and thin, making it more convenient for the Black Tiger Shrimp to snap and move.
3. What are the differences between Black Tiger Shrimp and Vannamei Shrimp in color, taste, and texture?
Color: Black Tiger Shrimp are known for “tiger stripes” on their shells and tails. Shell Colors can range from brown, black, and grey to blue and even some slightly pink. When cooked, both Black Tiger Prawns and Vannamei Shrimp turn bright red to light pink.
Taste: Tiger Prawns are most popular for having a bold, sweet taste, Vannamei Prawns have a more delicate flavor.
